the one about war movies

There is something about war history that draws me. I am fascinated by men's ability to repeat the same mistakes again and again. The idea behind history is that we learn from history. But do we?

Men said that they would stop fighting after World War I but did they?
Men wanted peace to prevail after World War II but did it come?
Cold War. Vietnam War. Gulf War.
We will never stop fighting as long as we are different in ideology.
We can never stop fighting as long as there's the urge to be superior.

We were never there. We could not be there. We would not have wanted to be there but yet history happened there. Perhaps, facts would not be accurate after 62 years but history remains history. The Japanese cannot change history with a few words. At the end of it all, it did happen.

We study history because we want to learn from it. If we are unable to retain the lessons from history, then we should at least take back the lessons on courage, strength, sacrifice and honour.

I missed "Flags of our fathers". Next up is "Letters from Iwo Jima". Okay, time to find a fellow history fanatic who appreciates good war movies. Heh.
